Planet of the 8s - Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar
Holed up in a secret location in Victoria, the ‘melbourne-based’ trio spend their days exploring the mind and through it, the music. They seek the final rebellion, the lost heart of the rock: the eternal tension between the reality and the dream.
October 2017 sees the release of the band’s self-titled debut LP: 42 minutes of deep grooves and heavy riffage in the finest tradition of the Californian desert rock. Recorded in June 2017 with Jon Grace at Tom Larkin’s (Shihad) The Studios in the City, all eight cuts were then shipped off to Massachusetts to be mixed by Justin Pizzoferrato (Elder, Dinosaur Jnr).
Laced with poignant melodies and harmonies the vocal treatment traverses 90s grit to naughties swagger and back to 70s psychedelia. Stories of interstellar excursions and earthbound heart break paint a soulful wash across the soaring rhythm section and wild outbreaks of lead guitar.
And just in case you weren’t aware, the extended guitar solo is back - with a vengeance - and not afraid to dwell in time’s various dimensions.
